Fluffy will always be a kitten at heart, no matter how old she gets. Playing is actually just as fun and beneficial for senior kitties as it is for babies. The exercise, mental stimulation, and attention are all great for your furry friend! Your pet may tap out after a few minutes, but that’s fine.

Older cats sometimes have trouble getting in and out of litterboxes with high sides. You may want to get her a litterbox made for older cats: these have lower walls. If you have more than one story in your home, you may also want to keep extras on every level.

Senior cats spend a rather ridiculous amount of time sleeping, so it stands to reason that one of the best things you can do for Fluffy is make sure that she has plenty of fun napping spots. Your pet may also appreciate a cat tower or condo that is easy for her to get in and out of.
Keep Fluffy In
Cats are always safer indoors, but this goes double for seniors. Fluffy may not have the strength or agility to escape hazards, such as stray dogs. She’s also at increased risk of getting lost, as she may forget how to get home.
Regular Veterinary Care
Just like people, older cats benefit from more frequent doctors’ appointments. Follow your vet’s recommendations. At home, watch for signs of illness, such as vomiting, diarrhea, withdrawal, or respiratory issues. Call us immediately if you notice anything wrong.
Comforts
Keep that motor going! Pay lots of attention to Fluffy, and make sure she feels loved and cared for. Senior cat purrs are very special!
