There’s a pretty interesting kitty holiday around the corner. June 24th is Cat World Domination Day! Of course, if it were up to Fluffy, every day would be Cat World Domination Day. How do you celebrate this special day? An Eau Claire, WI vet offers some suggestions below.
Toys
Kitties are always adorable, even when they’re sound asleep. However, Fluffy is really never cuter than when she is pouncing on a little toy mouse. Offer your furball some new toys, and take a few minutes to play with her. If you’re on a tight budget this year, you can make your furry pal’s things.
Treats
Cats and dogs may not agree on much, but they are both very fond of treats. Fluffy probably won’t turn her cute nose up at some chilled plain tuna in water, or perhaps a bit of shredded deli meat. Cooked, plain fish or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat, is also fine. Store bought treats will work, too. If you think your pet doesn’t like them, try another brand.
Art
Many children are spending most of this summer at home. Have them draw a photo of Fluffy! Another option is to have them paint a jar or dish for kitty treats or kibble. They can also make DIY kitty beds, and decorate those.
Cat Towers
It’s no secret that our feline pals like high places. Ever wonder why? This may very well be because Fluffy likes to get a good view of her domain. Buy or make your kitty a cat tower to look smug on. You can find great ones online, but you can also make your own. Repurpose a bookshelf, metal storage rack, or stepladder. Or, start from scratch using lumber, PVC pipe, or even real tree branches.
Catnip
No kitty celebration is complete without Fluffy’s favorite plant! Of course, not all cats like catnip. If your furry buddy doesn’t care for it, offer her a honeysuckle toy instead. For some reason, many kitties that don’t like catnip do enjoy honeysuckle.
Window Seat
Our feline friends are very, very fond of sunbathing. They also like spying on local wildlife. Make Fluffy a comfy window seat with a good view. That’s bound to get your feline overlord’s motor going!
